Gorgeous slice of bhangra from the Beginner's Guide compilation.
Another of her offerings.
29. SEMARGL - Credo Revolution (Zardonic Remix)
Death metal meets dance remix from the man in the mask.
28. Adora _Save Yourself
Lovely slice of Paramore-esque pop rock.
27. The Soft Pack - Second Look
Low key, slow-burning indie from the San Diego throwbacks.
26. Marisa Medina - No Te Acuerdas De Mí
Tacky but brilliant Spanish 60's action from the 'Chicas!' compilation.
25. Terry Lynn - Streetlife [Wildlife! Mix]
Classy Jamaican flavoured dance from the underrated Ms. Lynn.
24. Okkervil River - Plus Ones
Standard issue number from festive fifty folk stalwarts.
23. Jenny Lewis - Late Bloomer
Glorious yodel-fest from the lovely but hard to pin down genre-wise songstress.
22. Savages - Shut Up
Sounds like Siouxsie but somehow takes the format forward. Lovely drumming too.
21. Lindi Ortega - Murder of Crows
Slick little gem from the League 1 Country & Western diva.
Doc
Here we go with the next set then:
ReplyDelete30. Saira Khan - I've really enjoyed all of the bhangra stuff this year and this one is very pleasant - 6/10
29. SEMARGL - Seedy video but a great song especially when turned up loud - 7/10
28. Adora - In a completely predictable fashion I hated this. Most of the time singers perform without an accent. Here, her cloying Disney-esque accent makes me vomit up my spleen - 1/10
27. The Soft Pack - Standard indie stuff - 4/10
26. Marisa Medina - Just as with old films, old songs have a charm that is hard to replicate using modern tech - 5/10
25. Terry Lynn - Not very keen on this one, the verse is okay but the chorus grates - 3/10
24. Okkervil River - I can't even remember listening to this it's so standard - 2/10
23. Jenny Lewis - You can't beat a good yodel - 4/10
22. Savages - I don't like Siouxsie and the Banshees so these had no hope - 2/10
21. Lindi Ortega - Listenable but not one of my favourites - 3/10
Not the greatest ten for me then, but there were still a respectable three likes.
